Grand River Gate and Gratiot Gate (2018) are two stained-glass installations by Tom Fruin that welcome visitors to the Belt on each of the alley's entrances. Using salvaged and repurposed materials, Fruin’s sculptures are place-specific tributes to the communities in which they live. Automobile motifs are combined in the colorful composition as a nod to Detroit's legendary reputation as Motor City. ⠀
