Coming Soon: East Village Cultural Art District
An ambitious public arts campus in the East Village neighborhood of Detroit is currently underway, with the plan’s earliest developments set to open in the Spring of 2024.
Located in Detroit’s East Village, the Shepherd is a one hundred ten-year-old Romanesque-style church that is being transformed into a cultural arts center with multi-faceted programming focused on exhibitions, public projects and performance. The adaptive reuse of the church, led by the architectural design firm Peterson Rich Office (PRO), will create gallery spaces, a public library, and a workshop space for the local community.
Learn MoreDesigned by New York-based architectural firm OMA, LANTERN is a bold new paradigm for arts education and public space. The development will serve as the headquarters for two local arts nonprofits, Signal-Return and Progressive Arts Studio Collective (PASC), in addition to offering affordable studio and creative retail spaces.
