The art program for the revitalized Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse was curated by Library Street Collective and includes works made especially for the new arena, its teams and community. From murals to light installations and sculpture, each piece was created to convey a spirit of sportsmanship and the power of resilience. Artists from Ohio and beyond came together with the goal of celebrating the camaraderie between The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and its community of athletes, performers and supporters.
Works on display include a towering 20-foot sculpture by KAWS; large-scale murals by Nina Chanel Abney, Shepard Fairey and Ryan Jaenke; immersive installations by Sam Friedman and Thrush Holmes that span four vertical stories; text-based work by Adam Parker Smith drawn from his whimsical mylar balloon sculptures; and an architectural piece by Cleveland native Daniel Arsham. Significant paintings and works on paper by FAILE, Beverly Fishman, Niall McClelland, Jordan Nickel, Jason REVOK, Julian Stanczak, Paul Verdell, Bradley Robert Ward, Tyrrell Winston, and Wendy White line the walls at street level as well as the portals to the stadium seating, and the Founders and Club levels. In addition, a unique rotating exhibition platform will highlight the works of several local artists. The Cleveland-based artist selected for the 2019 - 2021 exhibition are photographer Donald Black Jr., muralist Erin Guido, collage and video artist Kasumi, and figurative painter Darius Steward.
